District Office News
Meet Our Staff!
Kori Ebenhack: Lake County Campus & Colusa County Campus Dean
As the Dean of the Lake County Campus and Colusa Center, Kori Ebenhack is committed to making education more accessible and student-friendly. Since joining the District in July 2024, she’s embraced the diversity of her role, working closely with staff, faculty, and community members to enhance services for students
Kori thrives on variety—whether it’s improving campus operations, collaborating with colleagues, or tackling hands-on projects at home. And speaking of hands-on projects, she’s currently knee-deep in home renovations, painting walls, laying flooring, and even plotting a bathroom remodel.
Kori is also a world traveler and a lifelong explorer. Whether she’s driving down unfamiliar roads or planning a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, she enjoys discovering new places. Her adventurous spirit once led her to spontaneously join a diving trip to the British Virgin Islands with near-strangers, luckily, they turned out to be great travel companions, and she still journeys with them today!
Did you know? Kori is a Hall of Famer! She played basketball at Butte College and was part of the team that won the 1983 State Championship.
Her guiding principle in both life and work? “Pay attention to your intention.” As a former counselor, she found that clearly stating her intention, especially when delivering tough feedback, helped build trust and understanding.
At work, Kori is passionate about making campuses more accessible, ensuring that students feel supported from the moment they step on campus. From clear signage to well-informed staff, she believes in removing barriers to education.
Her philosophy on life is “something is going to happen.” She embraces the unknown, knowing that while we can’t control everything, we can control how we respond.
With her leadership, hands-on approach, and commitment to accessibility, Kori is making a lasting impact on the District!

Fiscal and Economic Update: Anticipating the 2025–26 May Revision
As California prepares for the release of the 2025–26 May Revision, the state is navigating mixed economic signals—marked by recent fiscal stability alongside broader economic uncertainty.
Near-Term Stability:
According to the April 2025 Finance Bulletin, General Fund cash receipts are $4.4 billion above year-to-date forecasts. This increase is driven largely by stronger-than-expected personal income tax collections. While corporate and sales tax revenues came in below projections, overall receipts point to short-term fiscal resilience. California’s economy grew 3.6% in 2024, with personal income up 6.5%. Despite this, California’s unemployment rate remains elevated at 5.3%, the fourth highest in the nation.
Market and Policy Concerns:
Recent federal actions, including the imposition of a 10% tariff on all U.S. trading partners, have introduced new economic risks. Governor Newsom has filed a legal challenge, citing disproportionate impacts on California, the nation’s largest trading state. Since the tariff announcement on April 2, 2025, major U.S. stock indexes have declined. This market volatility raises concerns for California’s General Fund, which heavily relies on capital gains taxes. If markets remain weak, the May Revision may reflect downward adjustments to 2025–26 revenue projections.
Outlook for Proposition 98:
The Governor’s January Budget projected 8.5% and 9.1% of General Fund revenues from capital gains in 2024–25 and 2025–26, respectively. While current-year revenues may increase the 2024–25 Proposition 98 minimum guarantee, the outlook for 2025–26 may be more conservative. In January, Governor Newsom proposed withholding $1.6 billion in Proposition 98 funding to avoid an over-appropriation approach that could gain traction if economic volatility persists. The May Revision will need to balance optimistic revenue data with a cautious view of national policy, market conditions, and global trade dynamics.
