Whether you are a student, faculty member, staff member or administrator, this COVID site is regularly updated to provide you with the with the necessary information and resources need as we start to transition away from an almost exclusive virtual campus to a combination of in-person and online instruction. Yuba Community College District (YCCD), in line with guidance from county public health officials, lifted its indoor face covering mandate. However, YCCD strongly recommends everyone – students, faculty, and staff to wear masks while indoors regardless of vaccination status. Free face coverings are available in classrooms and public areas.

Yuba Community College District no longer requires students and employees to complete the CMIA, show proof of vaccination or a weekly PCR test to be physically present on a YCCD campus. YCCD strongly encourages everyone to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with appropriate booster and test regularly.

Mask Requirements

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, YCCD provide an update on changes to the Yuba Community College District’s mask requirement. As you may be aware, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has announced a number of recent policy changes including an update to the requirement for unvaccinated persons to mask in indoor public settings. The CDPH’s new guidance is a strong recommendation that all persons, regardless of vaccination status, continue to mask while in indoor public settings and businesses. Therefore, effective March 11, 2022, the YCCD mask policy is updated to strongly recommend that all students, employees, and campus visitors wear a mask when in any indoor setting. YCCD has implemented numerous safety mitigation efforts to ensure the safety of all students, employees and campus visitors. Faculty, staff, students, and visitors should continue to self-screen for illness prior to coming onto any YCCD campus. The District will continue to monitor COVID-19 positivity data, state and local health guidance, and other information and provide updates as they become available.  It should also be noted that some programs such as Allied Health, are subject to more rigorous requirements and rules such as those for healthcare settings.

Testing:

YCCD Offers Free COVID-19 Home Tests to Staff And Students.

COVID-19 Rapid antigen test kits (Home test) will be available free of cost at all campuses and the district office for staff and students who need to get tested. Each test kit provided by YCCD will contain 2 tests. Rapid test kits are also available for purchase at many retail outlets and online. Most health insurance plans now also permit enrollees to obtain kits from some pharmacies at no additional out-of-pocket cost.

Update January 12, 2024:

At-Home COVID-19 Test Expiration Dates Extended

The expiration dates for at-home iHealth COVID tests provided by YCCD, have been extended. For example, those with expiration dates in September 2023 now expire in April 2024.

The expiration dates for at-home Flowflex COVID-19 Antigen Home tests provided by YCCD, have been extended. For example, those with expiration dates in January 2023 now expire in January 2024.

If you have at-home iHealth COVID tests provided by YCCD with expiration dates in July 2022, please be aware that they are already expired.

In addition, the California Department of Public Health endorses the use of all FDA approved over-the counter COVID-19 Tests beyond their original expiration date. To ensure your at-home test has not expired, follow these three steps. 1. take the test. 2. Wait the allotted time per the test instructions. 3. Watch the control line appear. The visible control line indicates a good test. If the control line is not visible after waiting the instructed time, then the test has likely expired.

YCCD COVID-19 reporting Requirements:

Students and employees are required to contact their supervisor or instructor if they are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms or test positive for COVID-19. If you develop symptoms while at a district facility, you must leave immediately. Additionally, you must fill out the reporting form ASAP (YCCD COVID-19 Questionnaire and Reporting Form). Your information will be kept confidential. When an individual, who tested positive for COVID-19, has been onsite during their infectious period, the YCCD COVID Response team will ask them to help identify potential high-risk and low-risk close contacts.

Isolation/ Quarantine Guidance for COVID-19:

  • YCCD recently revised the COVID-19 guidance to align with CDPH to reduce isolation and quarantine period. The revised guidance allows individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 to shorten their isolation to less than 10 days.
  • If you test positive, whether you have symptoms or not: Isolate regardless of your vaccination status.
  • COVID-19 cases may return if 24 hours have passed with no fever, without the use of fever-reducing medications, AND their symptoms are mild and improving.
  • The first day of symptoms or the day of the positive test is considered day zero, whichever came earlier. Individuals should wait until their symptoms have improved and they have been without fever for 24 hours. If you still have a fever, you must continue to isolate until the fever is gone for at least 24 hours. If other symptoms are not resolving, continue to isolate until your symptoms are resolving.
  • Individuals who end their isolation before day 10 must wear a face mask that fits and filters well over their mouth and nose when around others through day 10. You may remove your mask sooner than Day 10 if you have two negative tests in a row at least one day apart between day 5 and 10.
  • If you were exposed but have no symptoms, testing is not recommended anymore. 
  • Testing is recommended for:
  • – All people with new COVID-19 symptoms. AND
  • – Close contacts who are at higher risk of severe disease or who have contact with people who
    are at higher risk of severe disease.
  • Close contacts must wear a well-fitted mask around others for 10 days after exposure, even at home if other people are present. If symptoms develop, isolate and get tested. If test positive, follow isolation steps.

FREE Virtual COVID-19 Visit is available for Californians Ages 12 and Up. Pick an appointment at “https://sesamecare.com/covidca” to connect with a FREE healthcare provider who can prescribe you COVID-19 medications if appropriate. This is a free service provided by the California Department of Public Health to support uninsured and underinsured individuals within the State of California who cannot connect with a healthcare provider within 24 hours of receiving a positive test result. If you are insured, please try to reach your healthcare provider first. If you have difficulty doing so within 24 hours of your positive result, you may proceed with booking here. COVID-19 medications must be taken within 5-7 days of symptoms starting to be effective.

What is a Close Contact?

Close Contact is defined as someone who shares the same indoor space (400,000 or fewer cubic feet per floor ) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset until the time the patient is isolated.
