Degrees OfferedA veterinary technician is similar to a registered nurse for animals and provides assistance to veterinarians in primary animal care, surgical nursing, anesthesiology, radiology, and nursing. Veterinary technicians also provide client education and information on general pet care to the public. A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) is an individual who has completed a two year program of study and has passed the California State Board Exam for Veterinary Technicians. The Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program is such a two year program and has been accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Acceptance into this program is gained through submission of high school and college transcripts and scores obtained on the placement exam. Upon completion of the two year program at Yuba College, students will receive an Associates of Science degree in Veterinary Technology.
