Program Curriculum

THE PROGRAM

The Veterinary Technology Program teaches the knowledge, skills and abilities needed by the individual who desires to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. An individual interested in this career should possess the ability to deal successfully with a variety of people, enjoy working with animals, have an interest in science and medicine and be able to self-direct and work in an organized manner.

THE CAREER

Veterinary Technology is a career path for those who have an affinity for animals and a strong desire to work in a medical/scientific field. Registered Veterinary Technicians work along side veterinarians in providing the health care, medical and surgical treatment of large, small and exotic animals. The work environment can range from the small animal veterinary hospital, to the commercial laboratory setting, zoo facilities, or government/military service.

PERSONAL POTENTIAL

Upon completion of the 2 year, AVMA accredited program, the student will have completed the requirements for an Associate in Science Degree with many units transferable towards a higher degree. The student will also be eligible to take the California State Board Exam for Veterinary Technicians.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Grants, scholarships and other forms of financial aid are available to qualified Yuba College students.
