Welcome to the Learning Resources Center (LRC). The LRC consists of three distinct but related programs: the Library, the Media Center Services, and Distributive Education. This website is intended to assist in understanding the policies, what services are available and where those services are located in the LRC.

Library Catalog

The catalog for the book collection is available online and can be reached by any of the public access terminals in the Main Reading Room or the Library web page if at home. The non-ficion books are arranged by subject using the Dewey Decimal system and all other books are shelved by author’s last name.

These databases are paid for by Yuba College Library as a service to library cardholders. Available on campus or from home with a password.

E-Books - Comprehensive collection of electronic books providing access to a wide range of research, reference, and reading materials. To access NetLibrary off-campus you must create an account on-campus first. Please visit the reference desk for additional information.

Encyclopedia Britannica - Use this resource for online access to the full-text of the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, World Atlas, country comparisons, and much more!

UMI ProQuest - An online collection of over 3300 periodicals (magazines, journals, and a few newspapers) with most available in full-text.

WilsonWeb—Reference Shelf, Health, and Environment - Full-text articles from respected publications, chosen to make up a well-rounded overview, and organized by topic for easy access.

Historical NYT - The New York Times (1851-2005) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection provides access to every page from every available issue.

NewsBank - The electronic editions of local, regional and national U.S. newspapers -- all in one easy-to-search database.

Nursing Resource Center - Online access to the full-text of reference books and articles in Nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health and allied health disciplines.

RAND - RAND California is a subscription-based service on California and U.S. public policy issues with an emphasis on statistics.

CQ Researcher - A weekly publication covering political, economic, and social issues.

CountryWatch - This database offers a variety of information on specific countries including an overview of the country, political and economic conditions, and environmental issues. It also includes wire service stories for each country. This is the best place to start researching a country.

Digital Reference Shelf - Full-text encyclopedias on art, literature, social sciences, history, theater, and more, published by Oxford University Press.
