Welcome to the Yuba College Career Center Web Site

Yuba College Career Center ImageThe Career Planning/Job Placement Center is available to meet your career goals and needs. We offer the following services and hope you will come into the center soon to take advantage of them.

Career assessment
If you don’t know in what direction to go, this is a good place to start.

A current library of resources
A varied selection of occupation specific books, (i.e., “Opportunities in Finance”, “Working With Wildlife”, and “Great Jobs in Food Service” to name a few.

THESE BOOKS MAY BE CHECKED OUT with a current Yuba College library card.

Reference books: O’Net, Occupational Outlook Handbook, Exploring Careers, Encyclopedia of Careers

Books on resume/cover letter writing, how to begin a job search and more.

The Career Mentor Program
This is for the serious student who is 99% sure of his/her career choice. If you are interested in entering the field of accounting, for instance, I will call my contact in that field and let them know they will be receiving a call from you to set up an appointment to meet with you. This is a rare opportunity to tour the facility, pick their brain about the industry and ask questions regarding the educational path they chose to enter the industry.

Prior to meeting with the mentor, however, you will be required to meet with me to update your resume/cover letter and have a “mock interview.” We want to make sure that you are well prepared, dressed properly, and have paperwork in order.
