Announcements49ers Win 2009 Season Opener - (Date Last Updated: 11-06-2009) The Yuba College 49ers opened their season with a 90-80 win tonight against College of the Redwoods at the Cosumnes River College Tournament. Jaime Correa led the 49ers with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Nichole Manley-Case added 20 points on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the arc. Aisha Hudson produced a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lindy Lundin also got into double digits with 11 points. Tara Silva and Alex Rainey both had 7 assists on the evening. The 49ers advance in the winner's bracket and will face Butte College at 4pm on Saturday. Bains and Priddy Moving On - (Date Last Updated: 09-16-2009) Congratulations as 2008-2009 sophomore standouts Whitley Priddy and Suman Bains have moved on to 4-year universities and will compete against each other this coming season in the California Pacific Conference. Priddy and Bains led the 49ers to a school best 18 overall wins in 2008-2009. The 5'9 multi skilled Priddy will take her hardwood abilities to the Cal State Maritime Academy in Vallejo. Priddy set the Yuba College assist record with 100 last season. She also averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds per game and was named to the Bay Valley First Team All-Conference. Also recognized as a Bay Valley First Team All-Conference player, the 5'11 Bains will display her on court talents for Holy Names University in Oakland. Bains led the 49ers in scoring last year at 16.3 points per game, while also grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game. 2009-2010 Women's Basketball Schedule Released - (Date Last Updated: 09-16-2009) The Yuba College 49ers have released their 2009-2010 schedule. The 24-game schedule will consist of 8 Bay Valley Conference home games and include 2 non-conference home games that will see the Niners host College of Siskiyous (Nov. 17) and Shasta College (Nov. 24) The 49ers will open their season on Nov. 6th at the Cosumnes River College Tournament. In addition, the Niners will travel to Butte and Feather River College, while also participating in the Shasta College Tournament in early December. Bains and Priddy voted 1st team All-Conference; Coach of the Year honor for Sain - (Date Last Updated: 03-17-2009) Suman Bains and Whitley Priddy-Hess were voted to the Bay Valley Conference 1st team for the 2008-2009 season. Both players were instrumental in leading Yuba to a record setting season. Bains, a 5-11 sophomore from Yuba City, led the 49ers with 16.7ppg, while also averaging 8.4rpg. She had 46 three pointers on the year (33%) and also had a season high game of 27 points against Solano. In addition, she had 8 double-double's on the season, and had two games of compiling 16 rebounds. Priddy-Hess, a 5-9 sophomore from Lindhurst, led Yuba in rebounds at 8.8rpg, while also setting a new school record for most assists in a season with 100 (3.4apg). She also averaged 11.9 points per game and a team high of 10 double-doubles on the year. She had high games of 22 points against Chabot and a team high 17 rebounds against Marin. Sain, in his first year at Yuba, was named the Bay Valley Conference Coach of the Year. Sain led the program to the most wins in women's basketball history (18), while leading the team to a 13-3 Bay Valley Conference finish, one game out of 1st place. Yuba Finishes Season With Win over Contra Costa - (Date Last Updated: 02-25-2009) Yuba College capped off a terrific 2008-09 season with a 63-62 win over conference leader Contra Costa College. With the victory, Yuba finishes 13-3 in conference, one game behind Solano and Contra Costa, who finish tied at 14-2. Yuba finishes the year overall at 18-11, setting a record for most wins in a season. Manley-Case dials long distance with 7 three's in Yuba win - (Date Last Updated: 02-05-2009) Freshman Nichole Manley-Case had a career night with 26 points, while hitting 7 three pointers on the evening in a 81-79 road victory over Merritt College of Oakland. Yuba had a balanced scoring evening with four other players scoring double digits. Suman Bains added 15, Shelly Takhar 14, Lindy Lundin 13, and Whitley Priddy 11. Priddy also had a game high 7 assists and 12 rebounds. Yuba goes to 9-2 in the Bay Valley Conference and 14-10 overall. Balanced Attack leads 49ers to Victory over Mendocino - (Date Last Updated: 01-30-2009) Four Yuba College 49ers scored in double digits and a solid team defensive effort led the 49ers to a 65-27 home victory over Mendocino College. Breanna DeLuz and Lindy Lundin both had game highs of 15 points, while Whitley Priddy added 13 and Nichole Manley-Case put in 11. Shelly Takhar and Priddy both had a team high 9 rebounds. With the win, Yuba improves to 8-2 in the Bay Valley Conference and 13-10 overall. Yuba defeats Laney 53-46 - (Date Last Updated: 01-28-2009) Suman Bains led the 49ers to a Bay Valley Conference victory as she tallied 18 points and 16 rebounds against visiting Laney College. With the win, Yuba improves to 7-2 in the Bay Valley Conference and 12-10 overall. Record Night for 49er Women - (Date Last Updated: 01-21-2009) The Yuba College 49ers defeated Los Medanos College 96-56, and in doing so set a school record for most points in a game, with 96. More importantly, the Niners improve to 6-1 in the Bay Valley Conference (11-9 overall), one game behind Contra Costa College, whom they face on the road this Friday. Nicole Manley-Case led a very balanced scoring attack with 20 points. Aisha Hudson added 17 points off the bench, while Suman Bains chipped in 15 points to go along with her 7 assists. Whitley Priddy contributed a game high 8 assists, while Jaime Correa had a game high 7 steals in the record-setting win. Niners Defeat Napa Valley, 66-52 - (Date Last Updated: 01-10-2009) The Yuba College 49ers remain unbeaten and on top of the Bay Valley Conference standings, after a 66-52 win over visiting Napa Valley on Friday night. The Niners, playing their fourth game in eight days, improve to 9-8 overall, and 4-0 in the BVC. Yuba was led by a balanced scoring attack from Whitley Priddy (16pts), Suman Bains (15pts), and Nichole Manley-Case (13pts). Shelly Takhar had a stellar night on the boards, as she had a team high 14 rebounds, 8 of them being offensive. Yuba wins 83-72 over Merritt - (Date Last Updated: 01-08-2009) The Yuba College began a five game home span with a 83-72 win over conference foe Merritt College. With the win, Yuba improves to 3-0 in the Bay Valley Conference, and 8-8 overall. The win is the fifth straight victory for the 49ers. Yuba was led by Suman Bains, who scored a season high 25 points to go along with her 14 rebounds. In addition, Yuba had five other players in double digits, followed by Whitley Priddy (15pts), Lindy Lundin and Shelly Takhar (11pts), and Nichole Manley-Case and Breanna De Luz (10pts). Bains' Big Game Leads to Win - (Date Last Updated: 01-06-2009) Suman Bains had a game high 20 points, to go along with 8 rebounds and 8 steals to lead Yuba to a 50-44 victory over Menocino College in Ukiah. Nichole Manley-Case added 12 points, as she connected on 3 of 5 from three point range. Whitley Priddy had a game high 11 rebounds. With the win, Yuba improves to 2-0 in the Bay Valley Conference, and 7-8 overall. Yuba Wins Conference Opener - (Date Last Updated: 01-03-2009) The Yuba College Women's Basketball team won their Bay Valley Conference opener with a 56-47 road win against Laney College. The win, their third straight, improves the 49ers to 6-8 overall, and 1-0 in conference. Yuba had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double digits, led by Freshman Aisha Hudson who had a season high 17pts. Also in double digits were Suman Bains and Whitley Priddy (12pts), while Nichole Manley-Case contributed 10pts. Priddy also had a game high 10 rebounds. Yuba Takes 2nd in Cosumnes Tournament - (Date Last Updated: 11-10-2008) The Yuba College women's basketball team got what they wanted on Sunday, which was an opportunity to play for the championship of the 8-team Cosumnes River Tournament. The 49ers, who defeated Hartnell and Feather River on Friday and Saturday, found themselves against the host Eagles on Sunday afternoon, and depsite a valiant effort, fell short 66-55 to Cosumnes River. Yuba trailed by one, 32-31 at the half. The second half score seesawed back and forth between both teams until the Eagles capitalized on some timely offensive rebounds and 3 point shots with about 6 minutes to play. Lindy Lundin and all-tournament selection Suman Bains both contributed 13 points on the afternoon, while Nichole Manley-Case added 12. Whitley Priddy finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds and in doing so garnered all-tournament honors. The 49ers next take the court on November 24, when they travel to Redding to take on Shasta College at 5pm. Lundin's Free Throws Lift Yuba past Feather River ; Yuba Improves to 2-0 - (Date Last Updated: 11-08-2008) Freshman Lindy Lundin was fouled with 0.4 seconds remaining and calmly sank both free throws to lift Yuba past Feather River 58-57 in the second round of the Cosumnes River tournament. Yuba held an 11 point advantage with 4:29 on the clock, until Feather River quickly evaporated that with a cluster of 3 pointers and took their first lead of the 2nd half with 17 seconds remaining, 57-56. After a Yuba timeout, Lundin was fouled on the ensuing play and hit the game winnning free throws. Suman Bains and Whitley Priddy both came up big in the victory. Bains had a game high 20pts, while Priddy scored 17. Both players each added 8 rebounds. Nichole Manley-Case finished with 12 points, while game hero Lundin finished with a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Yuba will compete in the tournament's championship game tomorrow at 2pm on the campus of Cosumnes River. Yuba Women Win Season Opener - (Date Last Updated: 11-07-2008) The Yuba College Women's Basketball team began their 2008-2009 basketball season with a win at the Cosumnes River Tournament by defeating Hartnell College of Salinas, 57-44. Yuba was lead by the double-double performances of Whitley Priddy(15pts/10reb) and Suman Bains (13pts/15reb). Nichole Manley-Case chipped in 14pts, while Breanna De Luz and Aisha Hudson each added 11 rebounds in the win. Three Lady 49ers receive Athletic Scholarships - (Date Last Updated: 07-20-2006) Three Lady 49ers recently received athletic scholarships. All-BVC Forward Jasmin Wright signed with Division I Bradley University. Teammate and all BVC guard Michel Hughes inked with Division II Western State College in Colorado. Guard Krystelyn Omlan signed with the University of Hawaii-Hilo. |
