 | Mark SchmidtPosition: Post Number: 34 Height: 6' 9" Weight: 215 Class Standing: Junior Major: Business Home Town: Rocklin, Ca High School: Rocklin HS Bio: Mark Schmidt came to Yuba in 2003, after helping to lead Rocklin HS to Arco Arena for the second consecutive year. As a thin, left handed shot blocker, Mark came to Yuba with a tremendous amount of upside but as we would find out had a run of bad luck with injuries that would still haunt him to this day. After starting the first 17 games for the 49'ers at center and leading the state in blocked shots at just over three per game, Mark came down in practice and heard a pop. That pop would be a complete tear of his anterior cruciate ligament. With Mark's season finished, Coach Cornelius sent Mark through a contact to see Dr. Schmidt one of the top knee doctors on the west coast based out of Marin County. After a sucessfull surgery, and while starting his rehab, Sacramento State University came in and offered Mark a four year full scholarship offering to pay for his redshirt year as well as 3 years after. Mark stayed one year at Sacramento State and gave up his scholarship to come back to Yuba and try it again. In 2004, 10 games into the season while playing at Shasta College, Mark came down after a rebound and heard a similar pop. Mark had partially torn his Miniscus, and completely tore his ACL again ending his season at Yuba. Mark again had corrective surgery and again Mark was offered and accepted a full ride this time to CSU Stanislaus where he is currently redshirting and working out and will have 2 years of eligibility left starting next season(2006-2007). |
