Certificates, Skills, Employment, and SuccessAcquiring employment, retention, and self-sufficiency through training are priorities with WIA. It is important that you choose a career with a labor market. In other words, will there be jobs in the field you have chosen? If jobs aren’t available in your local area, you will need to consider relocating or commuting to another area. In addition to degree programs, Yuba College offers man Certificates of Completion and Certificates of Training in the occupational area. Certificates require less time than a degree program. Certificates of Completion usually require 30-36 units and may be completed in one to two years. The Certificates of Training are for short-term programs, and usually requires less than 29 units, and can be completed in as little time as one semester. A few examples of some very successful and lucrative programs are: Registered Nursing; Licensed Vocational Nursing; the Police Academy; Psychiatric Technician, Fire Fighter Academy; Food Service Management; Early Childhood Education; Chemical Dependency counselor; Accounting; Computer Information Technology; Legal Office Skills; Medical Office Procedures; X-Ray Technician; Veterinary Technology; Automotive Technology; Industrial Electronics, and many others.
