Activities

Upward Bound activities include:

• Saturday Academies that provide students with opportunities for building basic skills and obtaining academic enrichment.
  
  
• Weekly Resource Session with an Upward Bound Tutor/Advisor to assist in academic, career and personal counseling, as well as, college exploration and planning.
  
  
• Tutoring is also provided at the Weekly Resource Session.
  
  
• Upward Bound staff work closely with the student during their senior year to assist them in selecting college admissions, housing and financial aid.
  
  
• Campus visits to Colleges and Universities in California
  
  
• Bi-monthly Session with an Upward Bound counselor to develop an individual education plan and monitor progress.
  
  
• Summer Residence Program - Students are given the opportunity to live in a dormitory on the Yuba College Campus. Upward Bound staff live with the students and provide supervision and guidance throughout the six-week session. The summer session is a comprehensive program that includes:
  
  • Classes in english and math
  • One academic elective
  • Evening tutorial sessions
  • Workshops of social and cultural significance
  • Organized recreational activities
