Trustee Susan Houle - Area I

Ms. Susan Houle represents Trustee Area I, which consists of all of Yuba County, a small portion of Butte County in the Marysville Joint Unified School District, and the city of Live Oak in Sutter County.  Ms. Houle was first elected to the YCCD Board of Trustees in 1996.  She currently serves as Chair of the YCCD Board and as an alternate to the Yuba College Foundation Board. 

Ms. Houle has lived in the Yuba-Sutter area for over 40 years.  During that time Ms. Houle has served on the PTA Executive Board and as the Site Council President for the Yuba Feather Elementary School in Challenge, CA.  She has also sat on the Marysville Business Owners Association Board, been a member of the Marysville Business Improvement District, and served on the Fiscal Services & Review Commission for the City of Marysville.  In addition, Trustee Houle has been a Board Member for the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council and has served as Beckwourth Frontier Days Board President.  Ms. Houle has also actively been involved with the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce, serving as the Vice President to the Chamber’s Executive Board, Co-Chairing the Chamber’s Annual Dinner Committee, and sitting on its Government Affairs Committee.  Ms. Houle is a LEAD Yuba^Sutter Alumni and has been an active member of the Beale Military Liaison Committee.

In addition to her community service, Ms. Houle has also served in the U.S. Navy and been a successful business owner, previously owning the Silver Dollar Saloon, the Forbes House Restaurant, Nicoletti Event Services and Katz Concessions (a Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox Concession Company).  Ms. Houle currently resides in Clipper Mills with her husband Tom Houle, where they own and operate RV’s First of Marysville.  They have four children (Talia, Johnathon, Alex, and Thomas Jr.) and six grandchildren.  Ms. Houle is also an In Home Support Service Provider.
