Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Prerequisites:

Question: I will be finishing my prerequisites at the end of this semester; can I send my application in now?

Answer: No, we do not accept applications until all the prerequisites have been met?

Question: Do I have to take the prerequisite courses at Yuba College?

Answer: No, you may take them at any accredited college. BUT, it is best to work with a counselor to assure they are equivalent to the Yuba College courses.

Question: I have taken the prerequisites at a different college; will they meet the Yuba College prerequisites?

Answer: It is best for you to meet with a counselor at any community college. They can evaluate the courses you have taken.

Question: I have graduated from a school from outside the United States, will my coursework be accepted to meet the perquisites?

Answer: You must first have your transcripts evaluated. Please check with a counselor for information on this process.

Application Process:

Question: What is the deadline date for application submission?

Answer: There is no date, you may submit your application at anytime you have met the program prerequisites and completed your application.

Question: I can’t fine my shot records, so how can I supply the required immunizations?

Answer: All of the immunizations are required by the clinical sites and your name will not be placed on the list until you provide proof that you have been immunized or that you have immunities to the disease. Your physician or a local Health Department can assist you with this. AND, saying that you had any of these diseases as a child does not fill the requirement.

Math- English and Graduation Requirements:

Question: What is the English requirement to get into the program?

Answer: We do NOT have an English prerequisite or requirement to get into the program but you must have completed English 1A or equivalent to meet Yuba College graduation requirements. You will not receive your radiologic technology certificate of completion until you meet the Yuba English graduation requirement.

Question: What is the Math requirement to get into the program?

Answer: College level Elementary Algebra or equivalent is required as a prerequisite, but you must have completed Intermediate Algebra or equivalent to meet Yuba College graduation requirements. You will not receive your radiologic technology certificate of completion until you meet the Yuba Math graduation requirement.

Question: I see on the web page it says there are other required courses, what does this mean?

Answer: The other courses are required to meet the Yuba graduation requirements. You do not need to take, the following courses as they will be met by completing the entire Radiologic Technology program:

• Multi-Cultural
• Health 1
• Physical Education

But you are required to have completed all of the other courses or course areas. Please check with a counselor for more information on those specific courses.

Additional Information:

Question: Do you offer any other imaging programs?

Answer: No. We do not offer courses at this time in Ultrasound, Radiation Therapy, Echocardiogram or Nuclear Medicine.

Question: I need to take a course in Fluoroscopy to meet California requirements; do you offer such a course?

Answer: Yes. We offer an approved 100% online course. For more information on the course you can send an email to communityed@yccd.edu or call them at 530-741-6825.

Question: If I am assigned to the classroom in Marysville, can I do my clinical in Sacramento?

Answer: No, each classroom has specific clinical sites assigned and you may not go to a clinical site that is not assigned to the classroom for which you are assigned.

Question: What are the clinical sites?

Answer: The clinical sites where we assign students are as follows:
If you are assigned to Sacramento Classroom the areas are: Sutter Auburn Faith, Sutter Davis, Sutter Roseville, Sutter General, Sutter Memorial, Woodland Memorial Hospital/Clinic, Mercy San Juan, Mercy Folsom, Mercy General, Mercy Methodist, and UCDMC

If you are assigned to Marysville Classroom the areas are: Chico Enloe Hospital, Sierra Nevada Grass Valley, Rideout Hospital Marysville, Oroville Hospital, Feather River Paradise, Mercy Medical Redding, Shasta Regional Redding, and in Yuba City Sutter Buttes Imaging, Fremont Hospital, Sutter North Medical Clinic.
