AccountantDEFINITION Under general supervision, to perform a variety of accounting, fiscal analysis, and auditing in the preparation, maintenance, and analysis of County/department fiscal records and financial transactions; to learn County fiscal policies, procedures, and computerized fiscal management, payroll, and tax systems; and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the entry and first working level in the Accountant class series. Incumbents perform a variety of accounting and auditing work requiring some knowledge and background. Incumbents may be assigned to special work areas as dictated by the needs of the County or a County department. This class is distinguished from Accountant II by performing a lesser scope of fiscal management and analysis work. An incumbent who demonstrates sound work habits and sufficient knowledge and skill may be promoted to the Accountant II level. REPORTS TO A variety of supervisory or management positions, depending on the department or program area where assigned. Appraiser AidAPPRAISER AIDE DEFINITION Under general supervision, to assist with collecting, recording, maintaining, and updating property appraisal data; to perform routine on-site inspections of real and personal property; to assist with the preparation of the County assessment roll; and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a specialized, working level Appraisal Aide classification. Incumbents provide a variety of technical assistance with the appraisal of property and the preparation of the assessment roll in the County Assessor - Recorder office. Incumbents are expected to perform a variety of job assignments requiring some basic appraisal knowledge, as well as have the capability to explaining assessment procedures and regulations to the public.
