FEES:

  • Registration Fee (Due at time of registration) Must register before the start of the academy. $566.00. You must have met all prerequisites before you register.
  • Includes enrollment fees, malpractice insurance and student services fee.
  • Certification for EMT I, Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational and Decontamination, Confined Space Awareness, and ICS-200.
  • Parking Fee (optional, required for parking on campus) $40.00
  • Books, Supplies and Physical Fitness Clothing (Estimated) $400.00
  • Uniforms (Estimated) $450.00
  • Equipment fee (Due when you turn in prerequisites) Includes all certificate fees and equipment. $415.00 (non refundable after first week of academy)

The registration fee is payable at the time of enrollment to Yuba College. All other fees are due prior to the start of the academy. Students who are not residents of California will be charged $178.00 per unit above the initial fee of $20.00 per unit. Non-citizen students will be charged $195.00 per unit above the initial fee of $20.00 per unit. Uniforms are estimated to be $450 and shall be purchased prior to the start of the academy. Books may be purchased from the Yuba College Bookstore immediately following the orientation. Financial Aid (530) 741-6781 and/or Veteran's benefits (530) 741-6822 may be available through Yuba College to qualified students. Please apply for grants and loans as soon as possible.

UNITS: 26 semester units

CERTIFICATION: Conforms to standards for certification by the State Fire Marshal. Upon successful completion, the student is eligible for certification as an EMT-I and is academically qualified for state certification as a Firefighter I. Students completing the program are still required to complete either one year as a volunteer firefighter or six months as a paid firefighter with a California fire department to be certified as a Firefighter I. Students will be required to take all portions of the Firefighter I Academy even though they may be EMT I certified.

ENROLLMENT: All applicants must meet the following requirements prior to enrollment:

  1. Complete registration/enrollment forms. Registration fees due at time of registration/enrollment.
  2. Must provide Physical Clearance form authorizing medical clearance by a physician at the time of registration/enrollment. (Physical Clearance forms dated before 6 months of enrollment will not be accepted.)
  3. All other fees due prior to start of academy.
  4. Students must be 18 years of age or older
  5. Take the Yuba College Placement Test

ORIENTATION: A mandatory orientation will be held on Saturday, Auguest 16, 2008 from 9:00am to 1:00pm for all students accepted in the academy.
