I have been an Adjunct Professor at Woodland Community College for more than 20 years. Until I earned my Master's Degree from John F. Kennedy University in 1990, I taught Management & Supervision. Since 1990 I have been teaching Philosophy, including Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion and World Religions. I think there has never been a time when the subject of Philosophy was more important than it is today. We are immersed in questions of ethics, politics and religion. We are in the midst of a media onslaught to spur us into emotional action, so critical thinking has indeed become critical. Each of us lives by a multi-faceted philosophy, yet most of us cannot identify what ours is. In an ever narrowing global village where the character and power of our country are being questioned, we need to become informed about what is driving us, individually and as a group. I encourage all students, no matter what their major or future plans to take courses in Philosophy in order to enhance, expand and understand their own life experiences, now and as events unfold. These courses are indeed life-changing!
