I grew up in San Francisco and attended UC Santa Cruz, where I double majored in psychology and sociology. After college I spent some time working with autistic children before attending graduate school at UC Berkeley, where I got my MA in sociology. Before coming to WCC I taught sociology at UC Berkeley, University of San Francisco, Cal State East Bay, and Diablo Valley College. My own research is about special education and inequality.

For Soc 1, you will need to buy your book online (it will save you a lot of money). You can get a head start by looking at the syllabus for your class (below) to get the textbook info. For Soc 5 and Soc 10, you do not need to purchase a text; you have an online reader.
