I received my MFA in ceramics and sculpture while working with Master artist and teacher Paul Soldner, at the Claremont Graduate University in 1992. Since then, I have taught in various capacities as both a Professor and as an Artist, working primarily in clay. I have taught for Chaffey College in Alta Loma CA, California State University San Bernadino and Scripps College in Claremont CA. Presently, I teach ceramics, sculpture and painting for Yuba College.

My work is in several collections including the “Marer Collection” of Contemporary Ceramics at Scripps College in Claremont, California and the Tokoname City “IWCAT” collection, in Japan. I’ve led various workshops within the ceramic discipline on topics that include kiln building, primitive and lowfire techniques, raku, and clay sculpture technique for the Mendocino Art center and other topics for various schools and art centers nationally. In 1995, I developed and operated a school for ceramics at the Angels Gate center for the Arts in San Pedro California, called the “Pottery D”.

I have traveled Japan, China and Korea to work with international potters to both lecture and exhibit work and survey historical/contemporary ceramic. As a graduate student in 1991 I attended the IWCAT workshop. Later in 1996, I returned and worked with national treasure Ryoji Koie,. More recently in 2006, I returned to Japan again to work with master potters Kojie Sugie and Masaki Matsumoto in an effort to survey woodfire methods in Japan. I attended the "Macsabal Woodfire Festival 2007" in Osan, Korea and recently they included my piece in a collection for the Macsabal Museum.
