General Information
To be eligible for services, a student must have medical verification
for temporary or permanent physical disability or you must be tested and
meet the eligibility criteria established by the California Chancellor’s
Office for Learning Disabilities. Eligible students are those with documented
verification by authorized professionals (physicians, psychologists or
LD Specialists) in the areas of physical, psychological or learning disabilities.
Confidentiality Statement:
In accordance with the Federal Family Educational Rights and
Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, Yuba Community College maintains confidentiality
of all disability documentation and related records. A student with disability
has the right to keep knowledge of their disability confidential. Some
students feel comfortable discussing the impact of their disability and
resulting educational limitations with instructors for more assistance
in strategizing plans for success in each class. This is a personal choice
made voluntarily. At a student’s request, DSP&S will liaison
with instructors or others with a valid right to know in an effort maximize
support for the student’s effort.
Program:
This program provides for academic accommodations and access
for students with disabilities consistent with the educational offerings
and mission of Yuba College. In addition to support service, instruction
is provided for all students in the areas of learning strategies, assistive
computer technology and Adapted Physical Education.

Where to Begin:
To initiate services students may stop into DSPS for paperwork
and make an intake appointment with a DSPS Specialist. For further information
please access the appropriate campus as listed on the Contact
Info & Hours page.
Steps to Enrollment:
- Upon completion of Yuba Community College District Matriculation
Process, pick up DSP&S packet and make appointment with one of our
DSP&S staff members.
- Fill out the DSP&S Application
forms before your appointment date.
- Have your physician/ Clinical psychologist/ audiologist fill out
disability verification forms completely.
- Bring with you your application, disability verification, and Education
Plans, transcripts or other relevant educational materials to your appointment.
- At the time of your appointment participate in an interactive dialog
with our LD specialist to assist in the determination of eligibility
for appropriate classroom accommodations and access.
- Fill out student request for services form based on approved accommodations
and turn into front counter.
