How do I use my Access Code? - (top)
Good news! We have detailed instructions in our Guide
to Using Your Student Access Code.
When I enter my Access Code, why do I get an
error? - (top)
Please visit the Access
Code Troubleshooting page for information on common error messages
and how to request technical support for using your Access Code.
How should I configure my browser? -
(top)
To make sure your browser is ready for WebCT, visit the WebCT
browser tune-up. It has all the information you'll need to make your
browser ready for WebCT.
What's my WebCT e-mail address? I need it to
submit an assignment. I can check my mail but I don't know the address.
- (top)
You don't actually have a WebCT e-mail address. The mail tool in your
course is only for use within the course. On your course pages, find a
link to the mail tool, open it, select "compose new message,"
use the browse button to find your instructor's name, select it, press
"done", and then compose your message. The attachment can be
done using the buttons near the bottom of that screen.
Make sure the mail tool is the method required for submitting your assignment.
Some instructors use other tools, such as the assignment drop-box or an
attachment in the discussions.
How do I post assignments to my WebCT course?
- (top)
There are several possibilities within your course, so we can't tell what
your instructor intended -- you will have to check with your instructor.
He or she may want you to post an assignment using the assignments tool,
e-mail attachments, or as a discussion attachment.
I can't access the chat room. - (top)
Most problems with the chat room are browser or firewall related.
- To make sure your browser is ready for WebCT, visit the WebCT
browser tune-up.
- Make sure you are not trying to access the chat room from behind
a firewall. If you are unsure if your network uses a firewall, ask the
person who takes care of the network. If it's an Internet Service Provider
(ISP), call your ISP.
I can't open or post Discussion messages.
- (top)
Performing the following checks and fixes may correct this problem:
- Make sure you have done all the browser checks and settings listed
at the WebCT Browser Tune-up.
- Make sure you do not have any pop-up window killers running on your
computer. If your pop-up killer supports custom lists, include the address
of your institution's WebCT server as a valid site.
- If you are using Internet Explorer 6, make sure you have installed
SP1.
- If you are using Norton System Works, do the following:
- go to the Norton Internet Security
- Click on the Norton Firewall
- Go to Home Networking
- Add the WebCT IP address (207.62.206.14) for our institution
as a trusted site
