Trustee Jim Buchan - Area II

Mr. Jim Buchan was first elected to a two-year term on the YCCD Board of Trustees in 1998. He was reelected to four-year terms in 2000, 2004, and 2008. His current term expires in 2012.

Mr. Buchan is a retired Yuba College Professor and a retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel. Since his retirement in 1993, Mr. Buchan has devoted much of his time to participating in Rotary Club of Yuba City projects that improve the lives of children and young adults, and he is the Chair of the 7th Grade Boys Career Fair. Mr. Buchan is also a member of the Fremont-Rideout Foundation Board and the Chair of its Scholarship Committee. As President of the Feather River YMCA Board of Directors, he will be heavily involved in raising money to convert the Walton Avenue Fire House to the Yuba City YMCA facility for children and adults of all ages. He has been the Secretary of the Yuba-Sutter Every 15 Minutes for 14 years. This committee is regarded by the California Highway Patrol as one of the best of its kind in the state. He has served as the YCCD Board's liaison to the Yuba College Foundation Board of Directors for the past eight years. Mr. Buchan served as Board Chair / President in 2003 and 2010.
