Trustee David Wheeler - Area II

Mr. David Wheeler was first elected to the YCCD Board of Trustees in 2010. His current term expires in 2014.

Mr. Wheeler has called Yuba City his home since 1960.  He is a graduate of Yuba City High School, and has an A.A. degree from Yuba College, and a B.A. and M.A. from San Francisco State University in Theatre Arts.  From 1970 to 1976 he worked as a stage director and actor at a number of Bay Area theatre companies including the San Francisco Opera, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Walnut Creek Civic Arts Theatre. 

From 1976 until his retirement in 2010 he was Professor of Theatre Arts & Film Studies at Yuba College. During his tenure at the college David directed over 125 major productions, and received numerous awards including the first Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Award for Excellence in Theatre Education.  During this period he taught at the Drama Studio, London and is a Member of the British Stage Combat Society.  Mr. Wheeler has participated with the family business, the Wheeler Auto Center since 1972. 
Married to wife and actress Ruth Anne, the couple has four children.
